Water Street Academy is a homeschool created for our 2 youngest daughters, Lucy, age 14 & Olive, age 10 in West Michigan. We decided on embarking on a non-traditional educational environment to have the ability to engage hands on learning and allow our kids the chance to understand how they fit into life on planet earth. We discover each day how big this world is and how cultures & diversity positively affect us in unexpected ways.

Our family is comprised of visual learners and it is my intent to allow our kids to find excitement in discovering what they are good at while supporting our community and growing them as leaders through kindness and curiosity.

I decided on creating this blog for several reasons. Most of our projects each week are created out of inspiration of what other people have posted on line. I would love to think I was passing something on for others to use as well. I also thought this was a great way for our 14 year old to create some of the posts to practice her writing skills and at the same time reinforce what has experienced. The final reason is to share what we are up to for family and friends that are interested.

Thanks for taking the time to visit us!

    1. So sorry it took so long to reply! I use the Michigan state curriculum to guide our learnings and then fill in with projects that support it in a more hands on, experiential, artful way. I find other people’s blogs and online videos and project ideas to support my own – there is SO much information available. Please let me know if you have any other questions :0)
Thanks for checking out our blog!
